Wireless networking problem

Hi all.

I am at a loss, I have internet access through virgin (cable). I have one of there boxs (modem) and it is connected via a network lead to a d-link d15 wireless router. Also wired into the wireless router is my xbox 360 via a cable and this can access xbox live so no issues there. I have a laptop connected wireless accesing the network fine. My desk top is connecting to the network but wont access the internet. The Router has been reset as a last resort so at the moment there is no security enabled. I can acess the router home page from the laptop but not the desktop.
On the desktop i have checked that never dial a connection is ticked and in settings that automatically detect setings is ticked.

Why cant i get on the internet with the desktop.

Sorry its a long post but i was trying to give as much info as possible.

Steve

Untick "Automatically Detect Settings". Thats more to do with finding proxy servers and nothing to do with getting an IP address etc.

Install InSSIDer on the desktop and do a scan to see what the wireless network card is picking up. I've had clients who can't connect to the router in the same room because ones nearby have been on the same channel.

If that comes up clear (or you've changed channel on the router if there's others on the same one) then go into the properties for the network adapter and alter the IPv4 settings. Set a manual IP address using the first three numbers of the address of your router and then setting the last one to 200 - i.e if your router address is 192.168.0.1, set it to 192.168.0.200. In "Default Gateway and DNS server address enter the IP address of your router. See if that works.
