Hmmm, I was aware Natwest was under same umbrella as Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), however Halifax is under the Bank of Scotland (HBoS)/Lloyds umbrella.
You are spot on OrkneyStar....Halifax/HBOS has absolutely no connection to Natwest/RBS

Are you sure you are not confusing Royal Bank of Scotland and (Halifax)Bank of Scotland ? Lloyds/HBOS from wikipedia! RBS from wikipedia!
Not meaning to argue, hope you get things sorted with your creditors! I remember working in debt advice and writing to one place only to get a letter back from another (and apparently different address)....or writing to 5 different catalogues and them all sending letters from same address lol! Crazy!

all i do know is halifax took money out of an Natwest account via offsetting..... and that when when i needed to open a new bacnk a/c with someone not connected to natwest/halifax etc in any way the only one CAB could rec was barclays as the others were connected...
