working tax credits, child tax credits, child benefit and also you can claim the £190 grant
and also if you get awarded the higher family element on tax credits, basically if you get over £1000 a year for child then you can get sure start maternity grant worth £500
  • Im about 18k (obv not for my mat yr, will be alot lower) and partners wage differs because of his work, think he may be around £30k this yr but money also comes off his earnings for lodgings and food & travel as he works away.

As Caz says, your entitlement will depend on your income, particularly whether you are on any salary / SMP / MA during your year off.

Only thing that is definite (for now anyway) is Child Benefit. You could put your income into a website such as entitleto.com to see whether it thinks you're entitled to Tax Credits.

Many working Mums find that their entire income is spent on childcare - unless you are earning a high amount, personally I think you have to have other reasons for wanting to return to work, such as career development / sanity :D
