AVG software

Okay, this is a really dumb question I think, but I sent DH an e-mail from work today and now he tells me this evening that the organisation I work for are using AVG anti virus software illegally as they are using the free version of this software which you are only supposed to use at home, not for large organisations (it contained this info in the e-mail).
Now he's normally on the ball computer-wise and I would believe him, but I just wanted to check out whether what he's saying is true before I say something in work.
Edited to say: I think this is the wording at the end of our e-mails which he's talking about - No virus found in this incoming message.
Checked by AVG Free Edition.
Version: 7.1.394 / Virus Database: 268.10.7/409 - Release Date: 04/08/2006
Hope my query makes sense because it's all jargon to me

Free protection against viruses, worms and trojans, AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition is ideal for private, non-commercial use. (Use of AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition = within any organization or for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited.)

That's the intro page to download the free for personal use edition - your OH is correct, by the sound of it your company is breaching the licence conditions.0 -
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

This implies to me that you have AVG at home. If you sent your hub an email from work and he has received the above message at the bottom of the email - it implies that AVG is checking the incoming mail from your hubby's account.
Besides I would be very suprised indeed if a large org was using the free edition - it's great for home users but not strong enough for company use.

Just a second thought - the wording at the end of the message mentions "incoming" email, if you sent it to him from work it would be outgoing. Sure it's not your home AVG adding the tag as your email is downloaded?0

And goldielocks beat me to it!!0

Put it this way - I have AVG and all my incoming emails have that message on the bottom....

When my chum emails me (who also has AVG) it says this on his emails:
No virus found in this outgoing message.
Checked by AVG Free Edition.
Version: 7.1.392 / Virus Database: 268.6.1/343 - Release Date: 5/18/2006
Thus - your hubby must have AVG checking his incoming mail!0 -
Thanks all. G you are right, that message was at the end of an e-mail sent to my home from work. However I showed it to DH and he is adamant that that was the message at the bottom of the e-mail from my work to his work.

Okay I think this is what DH is saying was on the bottom of my work e-mail. Either way, no private e-mails were involved so either my "large" organisation or his "large" organisation are using something they shouldn't be. I'm on the case!!!!

Oooh sounds intriguing! Well if there is definitely only traffic going between you and him (in your 'large organisations'!) and no private home email accounts - does sound suss, but like I say i would be very suprised - AVG free edition is just not man enough for the job of protecting a large network.
