Ebay amp, dead speakers.... where do I stand?

Hi guys,

I have been an ebayer for some time and had little in the way of trouble but I do now!

I bought an amplifier last week on ebay (sold as ex demo and I understand the seller is a dealer). Basically I now have one of my £1500 per pair speakers dead and have discovered that even touching the amplifier when operating can make my sound flicker or drop out totally.

So basically I spent £300 odds and have destroyed £750 worth of speaker. I assume I should not have great difficulty forcing the seller to take the amplifier back and refund my money??? Is there any chance of being able to make some sort of claim for the damage done?

I paid by paypal, in case that helps.

Thanks

you'd be able to put in a snad claim for the faulty amp but i doubt very much other than court action that you could claim for your speaker. You'd have a had time proving that the amp was at fault i suspect?

That is what I thought.... it would indeed be very difficult but it is just very coincidental that I get an amp of ebay and first a speaker dies, then other speakers don't work properly and then I find that the amp itself is faulty....

Yeeesh what a total mess. I am going to be out of pocket big style, no matter what happens. Excellent :(
