Market Harborough BS does a 30 day notice internet account above the magic 2.5% and might be a reasonable home for £50k (I have the account and find their service acceptable).0

Good spot. Thanks. Replace Nat West with RBS offering 2.85% AER on £50k!Sceptic001 wrote: »Post Office 2.9% online saver will be covered by FSCS from 1st November.
(NB. NatWest 2.89% is now withdrawn)
<whispers ever so slightly smugly that Lloyds is 41% Government owned, RBS/Nat West 84% - though the point of the post is absolutely valid!>Or you can just stick to Lloyds bank. its over 70% owned by the Govt. So, whilst you dont get explicit protection, there is pretty much implicit protection given who mostly owns it. It depends on your perception of risk.0 -

I think RBS bonus rate is also withdrawn0 -
Having just missed out on Nat West's 2.85% offering, think I will go with the Post Office. Will they be 100% covered by FSCS now? I understand they applied in September but couldnt find any info that they were successful.
Still gonna apply though...0 -
Still on their web site with an apply now box.psychic_teabag wrote: »I think RBS bonus rate is also withdrawn

Valid until midnight tonight?
My wording was technically wrong. You're absolutely right.psychic_teabag wrote: »I thought ING was protected by the Dutch government, up to 100k euros..?0 -

The common questions says it was for accounts opened by 20th, but the current-rates page says bonus was for applications by 20th, so yes, might be valid until midnight.0 -

The RBS account only ever paid 2.85% for balances over £50,000.

It was never the same as the NatWest account even though RBS owns NatWest.
Without a bonus RBS pays 1.0%-1.5% depending on the balance and NatWest pays 1.0%.0 -
Did I ever suggest otherwise? The RBS account only ever paid 2.85% for balances over £50,000.
