Can I use Vodafone dongle with ipad?

I have a iphone 3gs and know that if I jailbreak it and the ipad (not purchased yet) I can use that to get on the internet, so to use that I could buy the wi-fi version.

I also have a Voda 3g dongle with a few months to run on the contract. I have read about people cutting down sim cards to fit into the 3g ipads.

Is there a sim card in the dongle?
If there is, can I do something similar?
If not, is there any other way to make use of the dongle?

Thanks

I'm was just like you iPhone 3GS and wanted an iPad.

You can't uses the dongle direct with an iPad, it does have a USB port.

I've cut down my Vodafone sim and put it in my iPad 3G, it works fine once you've input the APN settings, it's also best to turn the 3G Data off on the iPad when not in use to stop it using the 3G signal.

You could buy an unlocked MiFi and put your sim in there.
  • Thanks for the reply.

I realise that the dongle won`t just plu into the ipad.

Was the sim card out of your phone or a dongle.

I can`t use the sim from my 3gs as I still need it in the phone.

I had an old dongle with the 1GB sim that doesn't expire, which I used with my laptop when I was away from home.

Since I knew I wouldn't use the 3G much on my iPad I was going to cut that one down, but found them on ebay for £9.99 with £15 of credit, so I bought one of those and cut that one down, so I still have the other in a dongle.

I bought it a couple of months ago, the guy had about 50 to sell, but they went quick.

Vodafone stopped doing that sim deal about a year ago, there used to be a lot around but getting very rare now.
