Hi All,
just after some advice please if poss. I have been on my own with my 3 kids (19,6 and 1) since ex partner left this time last year.
I have been back at work since June and my Mum has been looking after my DS1 since then in the afternoons (she works in the mornings).
Her health isn't great and she is really struggling to care for my son now.
My sister is now moving closer to me and has said that she would look after my son BUT really wants/needs a job and if a job comes up she would have to take it.
I am on tax credits and wondered if I paid my sister the minimum wage for looking after my son from what I receive (ex partner said he would go halves) then how would this or could this work?
I realise that I cannot claim the childcare part of TC as she is family etc but could I kind of 'employ' her?
I know I could put him into a nursery/childminder etc but have had past bad experiences with that and would really rather one of my family look after him.
many thanks

What angle are you coming from here?
There is no detriment to your benefit entitlement from what I can tell. Your sister gets a wage out of it. Is she on benefits?0 -
Basically I want this to work for myself and my sister. She isn't working at present but really wants to and I really need a childminder! I don't want to give up my job either and I'm just trying to find a way around it.
Also as she would only be working for approx 20 hours a week would she be entitled to tax credits also? She has 2 kids (11 and 9).
