Are banks discriminating against Local government employees

I have a credit score of 999 impeccable I am a public sector worker and guess what all of a sudden, I can`t get even one 0% credit card acceptance.

Anyone else experience the same?

Your credit score has no bearing on whether a bank will lend you money.

You need to think about your salary, time at address, history of managing debt, existing debts ,etc ,etc.

Who says? A company that doesn't lend people money, but charges them to give them a number!

What level of debt do you currently have? What level of debt did you have 12 months ago and 24 months ago.

0% deals are not a right. Lots of people post here saying that they are suddenly paying interest for the first time in years. Not just those in local government.

Banks dont care so much who you work for. Instead how long, income debt levels and more important than anything history.

Would it be wrong if they did?

Lending has to be on the basis of risk assessment. If a lender came to the view that local government employees are at an increased risk of losing their jobs, then I think they are entitled to take this factor into account.

I would class it as calculating risk rather than discrimination if they were doing anything. Self employed people have been 'discriminated' against since credit began if that is the case ;)

    No you don't.

You just have a number, which you have paid good money for, that means nothing as you have just found out.
