benefit board guides dumping threads in DT

It seems that there is a knee jerk reaction on the benefit boards which means any threads they do not like get dumped onto DT

this means DT gets countless threads on benefits, that have nothing to do with DT

The benefit board guides need to learn that DT is not their personal waist paper basket

must admit
i saw one just now with someone asking if the new announcements would affect them
i would have thought it was more suited to the benefits board than DT

The benefits board is there to ask for advice - not discuss benefits.

but the thread i was referring to was a member asking if the new rules would affect them

surely thats in the remit of the benefits board?

I agree the initial question started in the correct place, but then it quickly became a discussion as to whether it was right or not. In situations like that the BG can't win, some people will think it is wrong wherever it goes! ;)

I've not looked at the individual threads in question, so don't know if it happened on this occassion, but generally when a thread is moved the board guide will often leave this remark
MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

All seems self explanatory.

premier, why does DT need 5 or 6 threads in a day from the benefit board all about the same thing?

Please engage your brain before your keyboard fingers

Where else do you suggest that the threads go? The BG's do not start the threads that they move!

not unique to Benefits , any thread that goes off topic and becomes a debate gets moved there

MOVING THREADS TO DT/ARMS

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances:
I’ve asked Board Guides to move discussions from the MoneySaving boards if they’re not related to MoneySaving to help everyone find the MoneySaving tips and discussion quicker (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to Discussion Time/The Arms. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

hi, i just read this as i'm here with a query on something else but - although i think the board guides do a sterling job, the message that board guides post when they move a thread from benefits advice to dt concerns me a little.

i do read alot in there and have noticed that many of the threads that move there from the benefits boards seem to end up in a slanging match of one description or another.
i cant remember the exact wording but the line that says "hi martins asked.... to move this..... where it might get a better response..." seems a little bit wrong - many are certainly not better.

for someone who has no experience of dt (many may have little experience of forums at all) and have a thread moved there, their more often than not innocent question gets ripped to pieces, chewed and then spat out, whilst getting lost in many highly charged personal political views must be mortifying sometimes, i'm not easily offended by any means but even my jaw hits the floor sometimes at some of the responses given in dt; this is really far from helpfull imho. :)

just my tuppenny bit worth while im here anyway.

Funny thing is, MSE themselves post non help related posts in the benefits forum, they post 'discussion' style posts in there clearly against the rules of the forum, so its double standards and makes a mockery of the rules.

It also makes a mockery of the board guides, and abuse, who are spectacularily failing to do anything (or even comment) about it.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that
