Hi,
Please can someone offer me some advice... I am in the final stages of my mortgage being accepted officially:j , my case is being handed over to the underwriters for final check tomm and basically my mortgage broker asked me if i have a "maiden name" -
ive told her this now, thought i did when i filled in the full application as it clearly states im married etc... anyway my question is will this mess the application up and be declined... Everything else seems fine but this i honestly thought was mentioned... Please can some one advise if this is just a routine check before going to underwriter...
Thank you in advance

It will probably just be routine as any female that is married should provide their maiden name on the form in the box that requires it so that they can carry out full checks etc. I dont think it will result in the application being declined as if you think it is already on the form then they will know about it and be able to do their checks. If it is the case that it has been missed and the mortgage company have come back to the broker to ask it then it will be filled in by them. If the application is declined I wouldnt think it would have anything to do with this but on some item - eg adverse credit history (previous mortgage arrrears etc)."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

They need to credit score you on all names - roughly in the last 6 years, as they would also check previous addresses0

Hi,
Thank you for your replies, I have already been cedit checked and have a mortgage agreed in principle, do the underwriters do another credit check then in the final stages of full acceptance?
Thanks In advance

As said above the lender will credit score you in each name and at every previous address in the last 6 years.
It is not unheard of for a subsequent check to be carried out prior to offer or even completion to ensure that all current credit commitments have been maintained between application and completion.
If you have no adverse credit history etc that has not been disclosed then you should have nothing to worry about, however I would expect a new credit check / score to be carried out in your maiden name .0 -
When we took out our mortgage earlier this year we'd only been married for a couple of months. We wanted the mortgage to be in our married name, even though my wife had nothing in this name apart from one joint account. Didn't cause any problems, the only thing was the estate agent wanted a copy of our marriage certificate because I think we'd used her maiden name on one form early on in the process.
I can't see it being a problem, a marriage certificate would be more than good enough to prove that you are both people.0 -
Hi Thanks,
Its alot clearer now, Thank you all for your sound advice
I thought it was last 3 years not 6, but either way i dont mind the credit check, just thought it was only done once.
Thanks Again

But the my only niggle is im definately sure i told them my maiden name at the beginning and my mortgage broker emailed yesterday asking if i have a a maiden name or not, I told her yes, but because it is going to the underwriters today will it cause a problem as they didnt ask for any id regarding this, i have my marriage cert but they didnt ask for this only payslips, id and id for address etc... would this cause a problem cos they havent got the marriage cert with the file? i dont mind them cedit checkin at all but im worried they will decline my mortgage application only because of my maiden name and that they have no proof to back this up with, can they deline it cos of this do you know?? Thanks in advance0

when we bought our current house we left my wife off the mortgage as in the past poor credit history from other members in her family had affected her credit rating - not fair but if your parents owe a lot of money they may look to their children for help.Stuff Martin Has Helped Me Save/Earn
