I decided to ring the agency about the job that was lower pay than I was wanting on Tuesday as I really fancied the job, had an interview yesterday (talk about short notice) and should hear Friday. I think it went really well so fingers crossed. On top of that I have just heard I got the contract job:D I have told them I want to hear if I get the perm job tomorrow before I make a decision. This one is more money but shifts between 8 and 8 and the odd saturday.

DH is thrilled to bits and I have organised a nursey place for DS:D If I take the contract job I start mid March If I get the second one I am waiting to hear about I could start 21st Feb:eek:The thing is I need to find £658 for the nursery which I haven't got to hand:eek::eek: DH will have been paid by then but I do not think I will receive anything from tomorrow until the pay day of the new job which could be the end of march which is going to leave us short even without having to pay the nursery fees.

The only soloution I can see is borrow some from DS account or get ebaying like crazy for the £494 due 1st March. I do not really want to borrow from DH parents as we have just made up and I could not ask my parents.

Cash flow, cash flow:mad: I wish my tax rebate would hurry up:mad:

We will feel rich though when I start getting paid because we will have 2 full time wages coming in and no debt for the first time in years and years and I will be able to save and make proper overpayments:D

I must re visit the meal plan and try and not spend any money on groceries except the essentials like formula for DS and fruit. I have been so busy this week I have hardly used the contents of my veg box and I forgot to cancel the small one coming tomorrow:o I have put them on hold for a month as I need to get organised if I am starting work soon. I feel a carrot cake, leek and quorn pie with mash and veg and a few pots of blanched veg are on the cards.

I got a bill from my old energy supplier today which also needs to be paid within 7 days so I need to take that into consideration too as well as the car tax, DS needs a new car seat, the n0rton antivirus thingy has run out....the list goes on and on this month and next:(

I have made a couple of small ops to the virtual pot this week but it is a really feeble effort this month. The £41 dd op has gone out though so that takes the figure up a little bit.

Best go sort this veg out while DS is asleep.

Can you get anti-virus via your bank? Sharklays do Kasparsky free for customers, Santandur offer some kind of security programme - not sure it is an anti-virus, but check your online banking homepage/bank website?

Anything else we can offer suggestions on?

Thanks for that. I have savings/ISA with sant and every time I log on it offers security software so I will log on this morning and have a look. It will be some protection at least until I am over my cash flow problems.

I was saving my Mr T vouchers (£35)for a ferry crossing to France to see my Dad for a week later in the year but I have just discovered that jet2 do really cheap flights and all three of us could go for £190 (free accommodation and most meals:)) so I am wondering if I should just use these for the bits of food we need for the next couple of weeks. The only other thing I may have used them for is the double up for clothes for DS whenever it comes on but he has had loads of his next 2 sizes given so doesn't really need much. I will have the rest of the year to save them back up again I suppose as I only get them at Christmas.

I forgot that we need to post DH phone off to sell also which will make £56 that I hadn't included in my calculation.:T

I will aim to get 10 things listed on Eeebay on Sunday. DH has a couple of higher value items to sell which he would usually keep the proceeds for but he will 'lend' the joint account this money until I get my first pay at the end of March. If my scuba gears sells I will do the same.

I am sure I will get the money together somehow using my savings and bits and bobs from elsewhere. I find it amazing how I always found the money for whatever bill or repair needed paying for when I had no credit cards/overdraft/savings to fall back on. It just shows how easy it is to use credit when it is available rather than finding a soloution to your cashflow another way. I read a book when I had my LBM called Back to Black, something to do with American Debtors Anonymous I think, and he said that you will find the money when you need it and I thought what a load of rubbish, but I have found in the last couple of years that it really does work like that. Sorry, bit off tangent there.:o

I am like a cat on a hot tin roof this morning but won't find out about the other job until this afternoon so I will put my energy to good use and do some housework, sort the clean laundry out and make a couple of cakes as DPIL are coming down tonight.

The person who interviewed me thought I was great and tried to get the director to create a more senior position just for me as he thought I was too experienced for the position I applied for and would leave as the money isn't what I am used to but the director wouldn't agree to it. It's £12k less than I earnt last year but would give me a much better work life balance than the other job I have been offered and is it better to be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond in respect of career development opportunities? I don't know? The agency is going to ring him and see if he wants to ring me and see if we can iron it out.

I keep swinging between taking the 12 month contract job with more money, not so good hours for a big company where I would be one of 55-70 or fighting for the job with less money, better hours for a smaller company where I would be the most experienced and skilled person of a team of 6?

I need a really big confused smilie to go here...........

Any opinions please feel free to let me know:D

I work for a very small company for less money than I could get as it's a much better work environment so I'd go for the smaller company. But you have to go for the one that you think will be best!

I chased the agency to get a decision about the permanant job yesterday afternoon but have had no response so I have decided to take the contract job for the big company. It will be up to me to work my socks off and impress them so that if a ft position comes up I am in the running for it. I will still keep my options open as well and keep in touch with the agencies and review the job sites.

I sent off for some info on taking my professional qualification as I think this will improve my job chances. The bumf came this morning and it is £2795:eek:. You can pay it over 9 months but as I will have to pay it myself and will be on a fixed term contract it may be a stretch too far. Maybe I could use a bit of my tax rebate to fund it.

DH and I have decided to make the trip to my Dads in France our main holiday and go for a week instead of a long weekend and knock the 2 week cornwall holiday on the head. The flights will be about £500, the car hire £250 and then we will just have spending oney to find and a couple of meals out/gifts for my Dad and Stepmum.

I am desperate for clothes for work. so I don't, I threw out most of my stuff when I got made redundant as it was past it and I can't fit in the couple of suits I kept:o The dress code is casual business dress as it is a huge call centre operation with Friday and saturday as dress down days so I don't need to invest in new suits but I need a couple of skirts or trousers and 3 or 4 tops. I was trying to squeeze this out of the cashflow challenged budget when I remembered I have £52 of vouchers for the big shopping centre in the city so I can use them and not have to squeeze any more money out of next months money:D

My new job will start early or mid March and this realy helps the cashflow too as I will just pay a full month or part month fees using DH wage and savings. The hardest thing is that I won't get any money for a month as my JSA will stop. It means that we are about £1000 short as I will lose £500 income but have an extra £550 to pay out:eek:

DPIL have taken DH out for the afternoon so they can try out the buggy they have bought for him and get used to having him all day for when he goes to MIL 2 days a week. DH is off Monday so we will have a nice day together as a family and the MIL has suggested she has DS on Tuesday as if I was going to work so she can practice looking after him and he can get used to being there all day. I will take the opportunity to go work clothes shopping as it is a nightmare trying to try on clothes with a pram in tow and I might go for a swim as it is free with my membership so no spend there:D

    Enjoy your weekend x

Sorry to hear about the job situation. If you're after anti-virus, try AVG free version - I've used it for years and never had any trouble with it, it updates regularly as well.

Hi XSpender, it sounds like you're in one of those strange but good situations where you have too much job choice!

About the training, if you're a contractor then you should be able to claim the costs against tax somehow. Not sure how you get paid at the moment (as an employee, umbrella company or Ltd company), but it is probably worth investigating.
