We are with plusnet for broadband with no problems until we started using the router wirelessly. It used to drop the connection suddenly and then reconnect after a few seconds, sometimes taking a few minutes. I spoke to Plusnet who sent out another router (another Thompson) and we are now having the same trouble again. It just drops the connection randomly.
I will give them another call but just wondered A) if anyone else had had problems with Thompson routers/plusnet and
If there is something simple I should have done/not done that i have missed (a fairly common occurance for me lol!)
Thanks in advance!

The first thing to figure out is if it is the connection itself that is dropping or just the WiFi. My money is on the WiFi as problems with that are quite common and mostly down to interference from other nearby routers using the same channel.
Your router log (assuming you can find it) should show if the main connection was lost and whether it was the actual sync with the exchange or the PPP connection with the ISP (the lights should show this too when there actually is a problem).
As I said though my betting is on it being the WiFi - try http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider - it will show how strong your signal is and what other APs are within range. You should pick a free channel and set your router to use it.0 -
a bit of and off the wall answer, but i had a router that always dropped connection in the summer, but was fine in the winter - it was kept in our loft conversion, and it got very hot in the summer.
So simple answer was that it was overheating - i moved it to a cool area, cleaned out all the little air vents and made sure it was well ventalated, and now works fine0
