hi my husband has recently left. i have got 3 children aged 3 and 13.
i have been living in uk for 6 and a half years. i have worked since coming here that was for 3 years and then i had a baby and was looking after him for 3 and a half years. in the meantime it was my husband who brought money in.
my husband is now gone. it was an abusive relationship and i am relieved it is over, lasted 15 years.
i was never on benefits, this is the first time i am claiming.
does anyone know whether i am entitled to income support? thanks

Given you've been in the UK for such a long period I don't think the Habitual Residency Test will apply. So provided you've got the right to be here then, yes, you can go ahead and apply for Income Support. You can claim online here http://www.dwp.gov.uk/eservice/ or by phone on 0800 055 6688 (8am-8pm, Mon-Fri).
You should also apply for Child Tax Credit, if you don't already receive it. Give them a ring on 0845 300 3900 (8am-8pm Mon-Sun).I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0
