How long should tax credits take?

I had my daughter 8 weeks ago on Thursday, we put in our claim (first claim) a few days after she was born.
My partner works 39.5 hours a week, i currently stay at home and don't get maternity pay. My partner also gets higher rate DLA, could this delay our claim? and should it really have taken this long?!

  • Have you also claimed for CB, I think they start proceedings when that has been sorted as you need the CB number too.

  • Hiya, yes CB came through when she was 2 weeks old, do they add the CB number themselves or do i need to give it to them?

  • Not 100% sure, I think you can make a premilinary claim without it but why don't you give them a ring?

  • We can never get through :(

Well, we got through, they said "a specialist team" is looking into it? but they wouldn't say anything more!
