Contractors and Tax Credits

Hi,

I am a contractor for the NHS, up until yesterday I was receiving tax credits but now have been informed I am over the threshold.
My tax credits were previously worked out on an estimate so I have not submitted a payslip.
On my payslip it says that I earn £449 a week gross income but also says gross income for tax is £295
I take home £273 a week after admin deductions ,tax and company National Insurance and have no othe income
Paying full rent and council tax this really makes life a struggle,
I have a husband for which I currently claim no benefits whatsoever.
Please can anyone advise if they are a contractor and whether or not the gross for tax is actually the relevant amount,
I am going to the Citizens Advice Bureau this week
