in Credit cards
Hi,
I have recently graduated from university only with student loans at the lowest amount. I don't have and have never had a credit card or overdraft or other type of loan. Recently I tried to apply for a loan for further study and was refused because I effectively don't have a credit rating. I was wanting to hear any advice on potentially getting a credit card with a small amount of money on to be used occasionally and paid off before interest accrues so that my credit rating will improve. Good rates/ cards/ general advice needed p.s. I have a small amount of money coming in every week
thanks!

You will have to start with one of the bottom of the range, credit builder cards. Here's your choices.
Remember, you MUST not use these cards to build a balance or you'll regret it, use it for a few purchases every month and build six to twelve months credit history.
Vanquis is the bottom of the pile, if they reject you I would worry as they give these to bankrupts.

Next up is the Capital one Classic or their Vanquis beater, the Start Card.

Then you have the Aqua Card, high interest but a step up from Vanquis.

Top of the sub-prime pile is the Barclaycard Initial, quite hard to get and you'll probably need some form of history. You can do a credit search safe pre-application check by clicking below.

Hope that helps
