I have just removed MSE antivirus & replaced it with Avast, and as I was doing this, I noticed the program Microsoft Silverlight in the program list. I can't remember seeing it before & don't really know what it does. Can I just get rid of it, or is it a program that might be useful...?

It's an 'alternative' to Flash -- it won't do any harm residing; it's not spyware. But u can remove safely if u wish

The answer is I don't know and I'm not sure.
I guess that really means probably not, then.0 -
it depends some sites use silverlight (including hotmail) it is developed as an alternative to adobe flash and is some respects it is far better (video playback and its dynamic bandwith function is a great function)
it wont do any harm to keep it installed but also wont do any harm to uninstall it either0
