Banger Rally

Hello,
I am thinking of going on a banger rally next summer.
I have found a video, can't post the link but look for
'Team Jaws - Ramshackle Rally - Krakow 2010' on you tube.
Has anyone done this sort of thing?
If not, do you think it looks like a good thing to do?
Thanks.

Charity Rallies seem to be a bit of a con to me. Not sure if they exist to help teams justify asking for charity money, or more likely they are just a money making ploys for the organisers holiday costs. Think about it..... Pay them to take part..????... most I have researched give a basic start and finish place, with a party en-route. The rest is up to you. The Mongal Rally for eg; is over 10,000 miles with no defined route, you are completly on your own, No back-up, no help. MY QUESTION; why not throw a dart at a map, and set off with a half decent car, and go wherever you want. NO fees, no hassle. Just remember to scrap the car officialy r drive home. If you are going out of the EEC, take a look at www.horizonsunlimited.com paperwork section. (plus lots more on that site). Google charity rallies or wacky rally for more options, but I would be looking for some value for money, not just a few stickers. Good Luck:o0

I used to run a charity banger rally. We raised £30,000 in total for various charities, and made no money at all - in fact, we lost money on it. All the smaller companies (Ramshackle included) do it on a not-for-profit or at least a very-little-profit basis I believe (and the amount of work going in does deserve some reward!!). The biggest company I believe do make a living out of it, naming no names.
It's not just a case of stick-a-pin and drive (though I have done this too - also great fun) as above - the organisers usually sort out deals on accommodation, and set up challenges (the marking and setting of which takes time and money - we had to drive the entire route , there and back, before the rally to set it up!).
It's brilliantfun. I've been on them, organised my own, and will go on them again. Great scenery, great camararderie. Do it, you'll enjoy it. Just make sure you get a diesel (MUCH cheaper!!).0
