Looking for feedback

Hello,

I hope this is allowed. I am thinking of starting a PC support website, more of a blog really, where I can help people with PC problems, write reviews, guides, hints tips etc. For free. Obviously I wont have time to sit on my PC all day answering problems, but I do have alot of free time, and IT Support is something I wish to pursue as a career. It doesn't have to be strictly about computers as I know alot about various technology, such as phones, game consoles, TVs etc etc.

I would also set up a skype account and have it running when I have free time that people can call with problems etc.

What are peoples thoughts on this?

tl;dr: I am thinking of setting up a website with free IT support.

Thanks in advance:T

What would be unique and different about your advice, compared with all the other help sites that are out there...?

Well, I know alot about computers, and a google of "Free IT Support" returns nothing but poorly made websites without much information on.

Like I said, I can't really find much of a website like it at the moment. As I said previously, I would have a skype account too if people want to talk to me directly. If someone is looking for help they would search my website to see if it has been sold previously, or contact me via a form.

the skype isn't a bad idea -- direct and immediate i suppose.

Agreed, from an end-user's point of view. But from the OP's position, it's a really bad idea.

The way the successful ones work is that other people answer the questions for free, and the website gets all the traffic. With a Skype option he's stuck with answering other peoples questions directly himself, in real time on the phone.

That's not something I'd want to spend my spare time doing, unless he does it on the Skype equivalent of a premium rate number (if such a thing exists).
