Advice/help needed. DFS delivery

Please don’t lecture me on the quality of DFS sofas- I know there are mixed experiences on here but its too late now, I've bought it. They’ve just called and said its in stock and I HAVE to take delivery in the next two days. My OH is a teacher so I asked for it to come next week as it's half term. No can do, it HAS to be by Friday, no storage facilities and if it "goes into storage" they will charge me a daily rate but she couldn’t tell me how much. (I'm a solicitor in Court for rest of week after today so I cant just take a day off either)

New to area so don’t know neighbours,(she suggested I ask one of them to sit in) plus old sofa hasn’t been taken away yet, im in the middle of painting the walls and the new carpet isn’t getting fitted till next week. Anyone else successfully argued for a few days grace off them? We ordered it 10 weeks or so ago and were told "approx 9 weeks for delivery" which is hardly specific enough for us to have the time booked off, this is the first we have heard from them.

Oh forgot to mention, we are on a pre-arranged/paid for trip away Friday evening to Monday morning and she told me if I had advised them of pre-booked holidays at the time of order they would have tried to fit it around the holidays but cant do that now….help!

maybe a relative could be in for your delivery, unfortunatly they dont have storage in the branches and thats the answer they give everyone what about a work friend failing all else id just go into your neighbour and explain the situation im sure they would help i know i would if it was my neighbour.

Ive not heard of anyone being able to extend the dates on delivery but you never know hopefully someone will post soon and let you know.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you

If you insist you need a few days more, they can postpone the delivery in my experiance. The lady who phoned you gets a bonus for pushing you into accepting a quick delivery. Most Dfs stores have a working warehouse, not suitable for long term storage ,but for a few days should not be a problem.
  • Thanks guys
Managed to get an extra working day (so it's coming Monday) when we threatened to cancel whole order but even then the tried to "blackmail" (wrong word-too strong) us by saying that they would have to discipline the guy that sold us it for not making it clear. (we said that if they did this we would cancel anyway as we didnt like the "trade off" feeling to it) Anyway, frantic painting and awesome in-laws coming to let the carpet fitters in this weekend, and by Monday night, everything "should" all come together....now fingers crossed they can get it through the door :-)
