Barcelona (or Dublin) extended weekend

Hi guys,
I was hoping to go away with my girlfriend next year for an extended weekend. Depending on costs it will probably be Barcelona or Dublin.
We would want at least 3* accomodation close to the sights - probably 2 nights.
What are people's suggestions and estimations on costs - based on eating out, visiting museums etc.
Thank you !

Dublin can be done cheaply and in truth, Barcelona is hardly Poundland.
Hotel costs in Dublin have fallen, flights can be dirt cheap, good restaurant deals can be found without going out into the sticks and I have found the main attractions to be generally very reasonable.
If you are going purely to spend all weekend on the booze, then you'll come back with an empty wallet - €5 a pint is the norm but then again, you'll find it a similar price in the touristy areas of Barcelona.
Of the two, Barcelona probably has more to offer in terms of things to see and do but I've had some great weekends in Dublin - and it's nowhere near as expensive as people make it out to be.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Cheers guys. I've heard the booze is expensive but we aren't big drinkers so that won't really be an issue.
Do you think either/both could be done for around £400 each (2 nights) with eating out?0 -

Definitely. As long as you aren't going in a peak period (bank holidays, major events, etc).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
We have just spent 3 nights in Barcelona, not expensive at all. We stayed at the Praktik Rambla - very cental and excellent. Eating out - not too bad at around 25 euros for a tapas dinner for two with a couple of drinks.
There is a bus from the airport to centre 5 euos each.0 -
Thanks guys

Do you mind saying what the approx costs of flights and accomodation were Lakelady?
I am just trying to budget for next year

Barcelona is the finest city on the planet. My wife and I absolutely love it. Last time we went we stayed at Hotel Regina, at the top end of Las Ramblas. Just a quick note, as some of my friends discovered this, the further down Las Ramblas you go late at night, the seedier it gets...but during the day, it's astounding.
In terms of eating out, you can spend as much or as little as you like. There's a really cool Japanese restaurant (and many other that are worth checking out) on the sea front, but the prices are premium down there.0 -
I think we will go for Barcelona.
Any recommendations for hotels (with prices if possible) in a location close to the local sights, restaurants etc would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks

No comparison Barcelona beats Dublin by a country mile
Cost,Climate,Parc guell,marina and beach,sagrada familla,Food,
museums and galleries,Montjuic,need I go on ?
Great food can be eaten at very reasonable cost by just going off Las Ramblas a 100 yards and ordering the menu del dia.
Pokerpad, hotel lloret right at the top of las ramblas very good rates and you could not get a better location, google "barcelona tripadvisor hotel lloret reviews"
On there site it is around 280 euros B&B for 3 nights but I paid 140 euros 3 nights booking with Booking.com,just checked and next years dates are not yet available through booking.com yet,but its worth waiting.0 -
