Hi, am asking on here for my daughter. She is 18 and pregnant, she currently recieves job seekers allowance. I have trawled the internet to find out at what stage in her pregnancy does she need to change her claim to income support, and at what stage does she get the increased rate? I think its around week 25 but can't be sure, Thanks in advance

In the assumption she's on her own, she can claim Income Support 11 wks before her date of confinement.
If she's got a partner their circumstances would have to be considered too.I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.0 -

Don't forget to remind her she will be entitled to claim child maintenance from the father, :jmakes the taxpayers bill a little bit cheaper

She has an injunction on him to stop him from beating her up again, and on account of him being jobless, homeless and a complete waste of oxygen I don't think any contribution he has to make will alter the taxpayers bill too much
However, sods law says one day he will win the lotto so she can collar him for cash then!
Thanks for all the help on here, we will look into it all!

How on earth does the maintenance paid from the father save tax payers money?? If your on income support or any benefits come to that you are allowed to keep ALL maintenace and not lose a penny in benefits.
I cant abide csa chasers, women choose to have babies as its their bodys! I have 4 children and as my benefits wouldnt change whether I claimed it or not why should I be greedy and try and get more from a father when we all know the csa can make their life unbearable and basically strip them off even living basically themselves!0 -

Women may choose to have babies, but they usually don't choose to be a human punch bag.
Should I of stayed with my husband and be beaten to a pulp for the sake of chasing him through csa? For the measly £70 a month i get for raising our son with no other help from him, i'd say it's a small price to pay to be safe and away from him.0 -

CSA chasers? Surely you mean decent moral people who realise that it takes 2 to make a baby hence it should be contribution from the 2 parents to raise it. Personally I can't stand women that sit on their !!!! and pump out baby after baby and greedily snatch the whole host of benefits available.
The maximum any NRP has to pay is 25% of their wage. This is for 3 children and above - that is the cap.
And if there is only 1 child to 1 father then it's 15% - hardly 'stripping them of living'.
Of course if they want to keep all their wage then they could stick a condom on and then there would be no issue...mind you, there's always the women around saying 'don't worry pet, you get me knocked up and the state will bring your baby up and I won't go to the CSA'
It's a win-win...he gets off scot free and the baby maker gets to sit on her !!!! for another few years.
Thank god the rule of being forced off IS when the youngest is 5 is coming in soon0 -
And this is exactly why the benefit system is in the mess it is, why should people expect a father to support their child/ren when the state can do it. Just for the record love it was only in April this year that maintenance stopped affecting your benefits.sparkletots wrote: »welshmoneylover
