Fraudsters 'copying online banking security' BBC

Just been browsing the BBC website when I came across quite a disturbing internet article.

What are your thoughts on this?

Just a new variation on the thousands of fake retail and banking sites out there, really. Same rules apply - keep your wits about you when online.

Nothing new. You'll be perfectly safe if you visit a genuine and reputable website/retailer.

It's the people who just randomly Google for whatever they are looking for, click the very first link and buy without a second thought about who they are buying from are the ones who'll fall prey to this.

One of the concerns I had when I first heard about these verifications schemes was the difficulty in verifying where you were submitting the information to.

The window pops up in an iframe and comes from a domain that's different to the one you are already logged into, making it difficult to verify that it's legitimate.

I've already taken business away from sites where it was too difficult to tell if the popup was really genuine or if it was some sort of spoof and I've worked in the IT industry for many years.

I've said this many times, why isn't the Payments Industry Policing websites who display their various payment logo's i.e Visa, MasterCard, Amex etc etc?
