Screeding - Kitchen Floor Uneven. Advice?!

I don't appreciate being mocked, when I said I am 22 and female I was replying to the person who mention lugging timber around and stuff, and meant I am inexperienced
Obviously I did not know about the self levelling stuff as I came on here for ADVICE.
As I said in an earlier post 'Thank you - I wasn't sure if screeding was the right term!!!'
How would I know the variation in height? The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.0 -
We all don't mean to give offence. But being a male , its difficult sometimes to reply . we are accused of being patronising ( or sexist)
Yes it looks like we have wondered off topic , a thing that we are all guilty of .How would I know the variation in height?
Have you a spirit level ?? a long piece of ( very ) straight wood ?
Or ..... is the skirting board level , could you measure off that??
Ps when my wife to be was in her early twenties, she used a cement mixer and then mixed all the plaster for our entire house. AND she is a size 8 wearing nail polish. We certainly could not afford any help.0 -
well i would try to use a cement mixer - if i had one lol.
i don't have a spirit level (i have yet to update our diy stash) but i can get one from my dad
i think i will speak to B&Q and see about getting that self levelling stuff, is it really as simple as it says (i know that makes me sound simple but i'm really not) i need to know how much a 25kg bag would cover, but it's only £16.98 a bag - doesn't seem too bad when i was considering getting somebody in to do the flooring!
thanks for your help and advice (and mocks :P )The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.0 -
is it really as simple as it
Yes it is , You will need a clean bucket and a stick! Follow instructions on side of bag.
Perhaps not using too much at once.
It says self levelling but you still need to spread it first , a 'float' is ideal , but only if you can find a really cheap one. Start at lowest corner. You can build layers up , look again at instructions
Most of all , have fun doing it .0 -
i have a clean bucket and i am sure i will find a stick somewhere!
What is a float?
To be honest, the floor can't be anyworse than it is now so i might have a bash at it!!The more one gets to know of men, the more one values dogs.0 -
Float is a something used to spread and level mixtures - plaster, cement etc etc
Come in all shapes and sizes

Not worth buying in your case , think of something ..... warning sexist remark coming up .
You will be spreading single cream across your floor,0 -
