Income protection for Council staff - is there any?

I work for Bexley Council and we have been advised that there will be redundancies but do not know which staff will be affected at this stage. Does anyone know of any insurance companies that will offer income protection knowing that I may or may not be made redundant in the next 8 months?

You should begin with the comparison sites e.g comparethemarket. But remember these people are not fools and by that I mean they all read the papers and employ market analysts. It may be possible to get redundancy and income protection insurance, bu it is not cheap and most have at minimum a 60 day waiting period before any benefits are paid.
In the meantime if you fear for your job now is the time to batten down the hatches and reduce your outgoings and try to save as much money as possible.
