A little advice Please :D

Hi everyone

I am currently on income support and recieving housing benefit to help pay my half of the rent and council tax (share a flat with friend)

I am feeling like I want to try get back into work now after three years being very unwell, and have gained a qualification studying at home. But am a little worried that as I have been out of work a long time will struggle getting back into employment as they will see me as a liability.

My question is : If I go onto Job-seekers allowance will i be entitled to housing benefit as I still have my half of rent and council tax to pay aswell as other bills until I am in employment? and if i have been out of work 3 years will i get jsa? and is there any other help available if i change from income support to jsa??

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

When I was on JSA I got full HB and CTB. And as long as you are willing and able to work, and are looking, you will be allowed to claim JSA - though if you feel you need extra help it might be worth looking into ESA.
  • Ah thats good news I just feel like I might be ready to try go back into employment but in the transition don't wanna lose my home. Do i just tell the job centre that I amwanting to try work and will they transfer my benefit
