If its a re-banding then I am going to be stung for every single year since 1994 which I dont think seems fair. Is it based on bedrooms or price of the property. I did a few months back request a letter from the council asking for how many people resided in the address as I needed it for proof and added a couple of people, but cant remember if bedrooms were mentioned. Price definately wasnt nor was declared when I asked the letter. I am in Band D, that said every property throughout the UK will be double or treble than what they were back then. Our bands havent changed since then.

Plus the property prices here in Dundee from what I recall didnt rise until early-mid 2000 onwards.

However that doesnt explain the other bills which are just asking for the instalements which they believe is still owing in part (link 1) which is paid in full in the book I have.

Guess I'll just have to wait and see what they say, which is not promising

The banding is based on the open market value of the property as at 1 april 1990 in scotland and would take in to account bedrooms, location etc etc.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Ill update when I have contacted them tomorrow and find out what the reason is. They owe my father £800.00 for a council tax bill they believed was his which later transpired wasnt .... same name, wrong address, wrong DOB but they both worked in the same place which was about 7 years ago. We never got that payment back even when we told them we have paid someone esles and was told they would investigate and then they lost the paper work proof including the bill payment receipt and that was that. Quick to pursue but not so quick to return.
