Is there any easy way to recover them?

There's nothing vastly important it's just the time it took to get them for ebay auctions.

I am using a Finepix AX245w with a HP micro SD memory card in an adaptor. My PC cannot read this memory card directly.

Depends. I don't know what sorts of filesystems those SD cards use. With certain filesystems that data still physically exists even if you start adding new photos. You might be able to use data recovery tools built for hard drives, like Piriform's Recuva, to restore that data.

On the other hand, other filesystems avoid using 'sectors' - the small, individual units of memory on the card - that haven't been used before, for longevity purposes. That means the sectors you've just freed by deleting the photos will be used the moment you start adding any new photos.

Try Recuva, and tell us how you get on.

No luck. There does seem to be some difficulty going directly through the camera - I used to (on the old camera) be able to upload to Photobucket directly from the XD card whilst it is in the camera, but now I have to copy the photos onto the hard drive before I can upload them.

Time & cost of getting a card reader vs retaking the photos, I'll just take them again and be more careful. They'll probably be better in proper daylight anyway.
