SKY HD - Technical Fault 7

Since we were away on holidays a couple of weeks ago, our sky HD box has started recording programmes with a 'Part Rec' outcome, and when you select the programme you get a message to say 'Technical Fault 7'?

The programmes are generally watchable, however at some point it will pause for a few seconds, the screen will distort and then it will play on. Occasionally recordings start with just a 'blue screen' and that never clears.

Signal strength is 70-80% on input 1 and 50-60% on input 2.

I've googled the fault code and can find very little on it?

Has anyone any advice.

    ** Bump **
  • There doesn't seem to be anything on that fault searching Google, other than someone with the same issue posting on AVForums.

Yeah that was the only one i found too.

We're loathe to do a full reset on it, as we have a lot recorded on it. :(

Will maybe have to phone sky.
  • We also have had the same fault on our Sky box for the past 2 weeks, starting after an automatic software upgrade by Sky. I just rang Sky, and a very helpful person told me that they'd had a fault a couple of weeks ago. He then proceeded to talk me through how to reset the problem by going into hidden set-up screens on the machine,
  • Mine may have been the post you found earlier. I've found that a full system reset will solve the problem for a few days. But, in my case, at some point later, the box will freeze up or not come out of standby - resolved by pulling the plug temporarily - and after that technical fault 7 returns. A right nuisance.

Looks like one of many bugs in the most recent software download. Hopefully Sky will get it fixed eventually. Why they can't test properly before implementing new software beats me!
