Where on earth did you get that one from?0 -
Never knew this was a 2006 post - I wish people would not do that - just start a new thread!0

Untrue legally they CAN remove you. IF there was permission to let they usually will acknowledge the tenancy and give the required two month notice as appropriate - if the LL didn't let them knw it can be a few days.0 -
That's what I did and all but a couple of landlords were ok. Check my sig to see how bad my credit rating was.
I know there is a bigger risk of landlords going bust and not paying the mortgage at the moment but you would have to be very unlucky to be evicted before you got the 6 months you had paid for.Lightbulb moment May 2004 £208,000 unsecured

People who search the internet or this site get any thread that matches the search, no matter how old. As a lot of posters never come back to tell us how it all ended these people often don't find a satisfactory answer and post something without noticing the age. Also, a lot of folk are not confident about starting their own thread.Lightbulb moment May 2004 £208,000 unsecured

I'm one of those who Googled something like 'renting with a poor credit rating', and landed here :-) So glad I did as I've just learned something! It gives me some hope to read that credit searches run by LA's may not be as in-depth as I'd assumed, I have been ruling out the possibility of renting via an agency all this time (though appreciate that the search they conduct may differ from LA to LA). I have no CCJ's at all, my debts are a few years old, nothing new, just paying off the old. However I had assumed the credit checks would just come back as a negative, so I've dismissed those entirely, thinking it would just add to the problem by having so many checks and no good results! Excellent timing as I'm about to lose my home, on a low income, debts to repay, no savings, insufficient cash for a deposit, and getting extremely concerned about whether I'll even be able to rent anything! Thanks guys. Any more help, info or advice in this area would be very much appreciated.0

Dont understand how one would save up 6 months rent in advance + deposit when on a DMP.. Im on a DMP and I would struggle to get the deposit together after paying everything else, let alone 1 months rent + another 5 if I had to move out of my rented house. Im in a much better position to pay my rent now, than when I was paying over £800 a month in debts.
I thought the idea of DMP's were that all of your remaining cash goes to the creditors, not to a rent pot for your next house.

We have been renting a flat from a letting agent for 3 1/2 years. We want to move (have had 2 children so desperate for more room and a garden) We have been told that we need to pay a £100 transfer fee (fair enough they have to make thier money somehow) but have been told we also need to have a credit check - i am really worried as we no longer have a perfect vredit score and i have a default from my catalgue as with being on maternity leave we got a bit behind.
BUT surely the fact we have been paying them on time for 3 1/2 years has got to count for something?
has anyone else passed a tenant check with a less than perfect credit rating?0 -
I'm about to view a property this afternoon - I am a disabled, 56 year old woman. I have just left an abusive relationship of 38 years and am trying to find somewhere to live nearer my daughter. I have applied to be housed by the council, but have been put in a 'low need' band, despite my disabilities - which mean I cannot even use the bath or shower here, and sleep on a blow-up mattress on an office floor! The office is in use from 8am-10pm most days, so I have no privacy and am living out of my suitcase!)
Anyway, I'm going to be totally upfront with the letting agency as I have large debts, incurred by my husband but using my credit cards etc! After I left university I was inundated with offers of credit cards etc...and I took them! I would never, ever do that again!
I am hoping that I can convince the Landlady/letting agency, that I would not be a risk. My husband and I rented a property for 14 years and never missed a payment, I have asked that landlord for a reference.
My Father has kindly offered to pay the deposit (one and a half times the rental value) plus the first months rent in advance. I will then have to contact the Housing Benefit department to see if they will cover all, or even part of the rent. I want to work again, but my disability prohibits a lot of jobs. I am on Incapacity Benefit at the present time, but if I could find suitable work I would take it!
Wish me luck, and I'll keep you all informed of the outcome!
Love, Lynn...slowly going 'round the twist:p0
