No Bills Sent

I get my electricity on contract, I changed supplier in Feb this year, from Npower to scottish power. I have never had a bill or any mail from Scotpower, though they tell me I am a customer and they have all my details. I have phoned them every month to tell them they haven't billed me. Do I have any rights in this situation? I imagine I am still liable for the power used but do I have to cough up the considerable bill when (if) it arrives, within the usual period?

Are you sure you're not on paperless billing and aren't actually paying? Most Scottish Power accounts are.
Nothing to stop you sending them payments - do you have an account number?British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Could be I am but the metre is phone home style and so I don't know if they have a reading and I have given them no money which normally produces a response; I seem to have fallen through some sort of bureaucratic crack.0

Hi ForeignDevil
From the information that you have posted, I am guessing that you contacted ScottishPower and agreed to transfer your electricity supply either on a verbal agreement or a signed paper contract? If this agreement was processed correctly and we held your correct address on record, then we would have sent you a welcome pack showing all terms and conditions of your agreement. Did you receive your welcome pack?
If you have contacted us and asked if we supply you then we would have been able to provide you with your account number and also confirm further details of your account, i.e. start date, start meter reading, current tariff, payment method etc.
I would suggest contacting us again to see if we have an active account in your name. We will be able to provide you with all the information you require. If you have a note of your current meter readings as well, we will be able to confirm exactly what your current balance is.
If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me (onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com) and I will be more than happy to help.
Kind Regards

Hi ForeignDevil - You say you have your Electricity supply on 'Contract', does this mean that you are a business customer?
If you are you should have had a hard copy of the contract thro' the post, but if you have not recieved it contact Scot.Power a.s.a.p. as you must read the small print regarding it's end date and cancellation0 -

Subject to backbilling agreements per Ofgem if you were not billed at all.
Sometimes change of supply issues can drag over a year due to poor management of backlogs/escalations, disputes over your meters or transfer reads etc. Not saying that this Supplier has that issue though, but it's something still seen in this industry.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
If you put away a certain amount per week/month for when you do get the bill, it wont be so much of a shock.
Its not rocket science.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thanks for all the replies; Yes it's business contract; no they haven't sent me anything but I have had contracts before so I know what to do. As I might well continue with Scottish power for the next year they will probably get round to it sometime. As for contacting them; done that enough. By the way the bill so far will be approx £28,000, which is gaining me a paltry 1.6%

If you are business, there are not real protections as with domestics so they won't be writing off anything due to delays.
Part of the reason is that businesses will be mroe active in monitoring plus your tax responsibility.
You need to contact them, there could be a situation preventing billing. Try writing to someone higher up.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi ForeignDevil
As you have contacted us previously on more than one occasion I would recommend escalating your matter to level 3 of our internal complaints procedure. We will investigate the matter in detail for you and your complaint will not be closed until you are fully satisfied. Have a look at the link below:
