I don't get any sick pay at all from my employer.
We are allowed to take a sick day as annual leave instead but that's not quite the same and wouldn't work for a long illness.
I'm rarely ill, thank goodness.0 -
Or they stagger into work when the shouldn't, make costly or dangerous mistakes and infect their colleagues.
Depends how you look at it really!
This is important and as said there needs to be a medium found that is good for employer and employee but almost certainly nothing for the probationary period IMOThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

In my old firm we got sick pay but no-one was ever of sick because we used to get a £100 a month bonus if we wasn't off paid at the end of the year, but for everyday you had off sick you lost the £100, so if you had 5 days sick in a year you would lose £500. It was a lovely way to pay for christmas.0

bestspud - that's not legal. You have the right to SSP, employers can't opt out.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

I suspect it is an option rather than a replacement and remember that if you have odd days off you may not be paid as the first three days of SSP are not paid...The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
