very cynical comments so far - but I still reckon there's a killing to be made when bulgaris joins the eu and the trade/tourism borders are lifted - it won't just be brits going over....

If you'll frogive another cynical comment - you're right. There is a killing to be made, and unfortunately, if you buy a 2 bed apartment for £100k, you're the killee, rather than the killer.

I'm also intrigued as to how the EU liberalisation of trade helps you as an apartment owner in Bulgaria. Similarly tourism borders - can you give examples so that I can understand? How, for example, has Poland's membership of the EU had an effect on it's house prices, and if there hasn'r been any difference, what differentiates it from Bulgaria?

Darn it, I was going to sit back & watch the car crash, but I got drunk & felt guilty.

What's the tourism change in Bulgaria going to be when it joins the EU? How is it going to be different from today?

How is the Bulgarian GDP per capita going to rise by 2000% so a local can buy the place off you in due course? Otherwise why will some westerner buy your place instead of some other place. Someone's bought a property for 10k there, why would anyone, but a mug, pay 100k for something.

Do some research! Take a holiday there! Don't buy off plan, check the quality of the build.

If you must buy off plan, find somewhere built by the same sub-contracters, see what it's like.

    Think!!
"Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.

if the local cant afford 100K why woudl they build properties in thsi price range ?? just for Uk investors ??? id rather buy a local property at a local price and "modernise".

I may well be very wrong But you wouldnt want to get burnt look at the timeshare scams / houses with out licences etc you need to very carefull where your putting your money. yes take risks but dont take the biggest possible risk if you cant afford to.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

I find it amazing that people on this thread think the world is made up of two countries alone...Bulgaria and the UK...?

Did anybody see Amanda Lambs "top 20" last night. Looks like you can easily make 200% profit buying across Europe. It all looked so easy!

haha I said last night, "why does she have to constantly flash her bits as if ramping the property market isnt sexy enough!"

Ridiculous programme last night, spend 100k in romania and it COULD be worth half a million

    COULD COULD COULD COULD COULD.

Do other countries have programmes like this, or is it just the UK thats sad enough to warrant this level of property !!!!!! dressed as a infommercial?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

The sadder thing is people believe all this bull$%£ and will lose thousands when they realise nobody wants to live in Poland in the Winter (or the Summer).
Do all these property programmes use the same script?
If I hear "up and coming" and "get in quick" once more I will strangle the dog.

I think North Korea is the next property hotspot, but you need to get in before the BOOM.

I don't know where the figures come from or whether there was anything to support them? Why are Romania, Belgium Sweden and Portugal any better than others? What about Greece Turkey etc? Personally, I would have expected Croatia to be somewhere on the list
