I went from paying £135 a month 2008 to 88 a month 2009, now they are wanting to raise it back up to £120 ...I rang them explained no way can I stretch to that, they said £100 is the lowest they can do - as they expect me to use a lot during the winter

So frustrating, am currently £47 in credit

Have now turned off all the storange heaters, cooker at the mains, main fridge is now off - using a mini one. Any other tips on getting the usage right down?

If I can get it right down will EON put down the DD come the spring?? They said no matter what meter readings I give them now they cannot reduce it with winter coming, which makes sense..but is still infuriating

All electric, 2 bed ..1970s flat:eek:

Thanks in advance for any advice guys !

Hi Rebekah24 - I'm afraid it's a case of doing your homework to work out how many Kw you are using a year on the Day & Night rates, applying these figures to your tariff to see just what it will cost a year and paying monthly D/Debits that are 1/12th of the yearly cost

Eon's last bill probably lists your annual consumption, but if not, ask them. Armed with these figures you can visit Switch sites to try and find a supplier with cheaper tariff, (It's usually the one with D/D payments & Online billing), but ECO7 heating is not cheap and a bed flat will cost around £1200 a year

    Hi Rebekah24,

dogshome has given good advice, E.ON will be happy to provide you with your usage so you can pop this in to a comparison site.

As I’m sure you know, the Direct Debit should work by building up a credit in the summer months, this then goes towards your larger winter bills.

It does depend where the account is in the billing cycle, but £47.00 credit is not that much going in to the winter, is this the credit after your account has just been billed.

You can get loads of info from the website on energy efficiency, we also have an energy efficiency department that you can call, they will be happy to go through your appliances and heating system to get the most out of them.

Again as dogshome has said, electric heating can be expensive, have you checked your current tariff with E.ON to make sure this is the best for you at the moment, also ask for your day/night split for the economy 7.

Just shout up if you need any more info.

    Helena:)
