. Either way it's money I'm not going to shell out by myself, have already brought various bits (microwave, TV, rake, bathroom mats, etc etc) and fed up of others not paying towards them.
If you move out of your houseshare then all the bits and pieces come with you not with your house mates - hence they have no reason to pay for them.
If you don't want them to use them don't put them in communal areas. If you don't want to pay for things then get things via freecycle.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

I think I'd leave the bathmats to be honest with you(oh no, my housemate chucked them out anyway. oh well..), but yes, I know what you're saying. I bought a TV as it is a long term investment that can go with me. But there are some bits you'd expect people to shell out equally for! Like a lawn mower, for example..

Have you tried your local Freecycle/Freegle/whatever it's called now? People often give away gardening equipment and I've often seen lawnmowers on there too. If you could get one through there then it'd save you some money.0
