I tried to set up a home network between my pc and my sons laptop. I could not get it to work. But ever since although I am using a wireless router my browser now and then pops up with a message it's going to dial my isp (whilst I am already browsing the net!!) sometimes after that message I click cancel on that pop up box and lose my connection to the net temporarily till I close the browser down and restart it. Though my wireless icon in the bottom right of my screen shows it has a connection throughout...
I do not want to set up a home network anymore I have had enough faffing about to last me a lifetime!!
But if anyone can help with preventing the message popping up I would be grateful.

I always wanted to be a procrastinator, never got round to it...

If using IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, Conections tab, and make sure the radio button for 'never dial a connection' is checked. Apply and OK to save.0

Tools>Options>General>Connection Settings>Tick direct connection to the internet.
See if that helps.

In work, so only have IE, but from what I remember, FF is almost exactly the same. Tools and Internet options anyway. Unsure of the exact name of the tab, although the same setting is in there.0

Type 'about:config' in the address bar, then filter on network.auto. Double-click on network.autodial-helper.enabled to set it to false.
NB my setting is true and doesn't have this problem, so this might not work.0 -
You could go into Control Panel>Network Connections and delete the network connection you enabled to your laptop. That seems to be the source of the problem, so eliminating it may cure it.0
