Anyone seen Hills (canine version) on offer?

Options
The vet has recommended that I try feeding my cavalier Hills Sensitive Stomach since the little madam keeps getting some kind of colitis. Has anybody seen it on offer recently?

thanks

No, am looking for it myself. Keep an eye on Pets at Home, it comes in fairly regularly.

Actually it tends to be every version except sensitive stomach unfortunately! Like the current offer on 2kg bags.

Here's a review of hills sensitive stomach

It always amazes me how vets can recommend food that contains all the ingredients that are known to cause allergies and stomach upsets in dogs - to a dog suffering stomach problems.

And before anyone has a go, saying the vet knows best, vets are taught the bare essentials of nutrition, much like GP's are taught the basics of out diet. Vets recommend whatever food they're being paid to sell, more they sell, higher their commission. You wouldn't expect your GP to know the ins and out of a diet, if the doc thought a problem you were having was diet related, you'd be referred to to a dietician, pay your pet the same courtesy and call a nutritionist. Even if you don't believe me, you've nothing to lose by calling them.

If I were you, I'd call the qualified nutritionists at either Burns

    http://www.burnspet.co.uk/

    Arden Grange

    http://www.ardengrange.com/

    Or Skinners

    http://www.skinnerspetfoods.co.uk/

The nutritionist at Arden Grange was a huge help to me when my dog was having problems with a reoccurring upset stomach.

Head over to the pet forums and you'll find plenty of owners who've done the same.

Sorry, rant over, it just really bugs me when vets sell tout overly expensive food full of fillers and known allergens to help upset tummies.

I have to agree with Rev (above) people have to remember that the major dog food companies fund ALOT of vet school courses/universities so the majority of pet professionals only learn about the nutritional value of their products. The main ingredient in dog food is cereal, this is what causes a heck of a lot of allergies in dogs beit skin, stomach, eyes, ears etc etc
I've been invited to several top brand companies seminars such as Hills, Purina which at the time where trying to make a specific food tailored to our breed and it never changed my opinion of them i got sacks of free food which my dogs would never eat (high fat/protein content was one reason), i changed over to raw many years ago and with a dog now riddled with OCD/Arthritis its the best thing hes ever been fed and it shows, his immune system is no longer shot to bits, he rarely takes metacam or rymadyl.
Obviously not everyone has the freezer space to raw feed and it doesn't agree with everyone either Rev (above) has listed some of the 'better' commercial pet foods Arden Grange my friend used to be a rep for and she brought up many champions on that although i have used skinners salmon and rice in the past. Hills Science i would put straight into the bin to be honest (the vets get a % of each and every sale or they used to i'm not sure if its still the case).

Good luck i hope you choose one of the 3 recommended and not Hills.
