RyanAir - Pay in Euro or Pound

I booking a flight with RyanAir and note that if you fly out of UK they charge £ but if you fly into UK they charge €. But the price is the same, so £50 or €50

I'll be using a pre-pay credit card.

Is it better to pay in Euros then as I guess the price will be cheaper. Or am I missing something?

Yes it will be cheaper if priced in euros, but you need to click the right box to prevent Ryanair from carrying out dynamic currency conversion.

I can't see any box that saying dynamic currency conversion - do they actually have one?

It is discussed a few times on the forum. See for example https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2586295
  • Thanks

Had a review of that thread and it has mixed reviews - not sure if to risk it or not. As done everything before the Purchase Now and can't see anywhere where not to charge in Euros and would only save circa £10.00

  • Re-reading that thread again it looks like it appears after the Purchase Now page. Not sure if to risk it then and see if I can see the screen / message

It's a couple of months since I did it, but from memory the box appears after you've typed in your credit card number. I think it recognises the card as a GBP based card and takes it from there.

    This is awful.

I just realised that they have done this to me. I have been charged WAY over the conversion rate. The flight, to be fair, was all under £13 but still. How awful.

Thank you for putting this up. Another reason i am going to avoid this airline at all costs.

There are so many threads on MSE dotted around over many months about this so I thought I'd remind everyone of this particularly useful post some time ago by ermepb on another thread who provided screenshots to show you where the "More Information" link is to be found: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=33264447&postcount=23
