Hi,
I moving to Malaysia for 3 years and have a Virgin CC.
Is it better to continue using this? Will I incur charges for using it there as opposed to in the UK?
Or should I wait until I'm out there, open bank account and get a CC under their terms and conditions?
Confused n clueless!
Thanks

A Halifax Clarity or Santander Zero would be better for avoiding overseas transactions commissions (as long as you pay them off in full each month).

I would add Post Office to Patrick's list.
Assuming you will be paid in Malaysia, then certainly get a bank account there and use that for spending money. Might not be worth using UK cards there if you are earning more than enough to cover your needs.
I hope that you will retain a UK address that you can use. If not, you might have to give your UK credit cards a Malaysian address and they might not be willing to keep the accounts open.
At the time I left the UK to work overseas, it was generally a condition of application that I was UK resident (so I couldn't get new cards), but once an account was open the only obligation was to keep them updated with my address. Continued UK residency didn't seem to be a condition.0
