Hello,
not sure if this is the correct place to post.
i purchased a sony 3d tv from comet and have been recommended to take out a warranty. i am going for the 5 year option considering that i have a toddler the destroyer at home.
what do you guys think of the 5 year warranty. for a 1600 pound tv, 5 years warranty works out to 450 pounds.

If they have the TV in stock John Lewis will price match it (as comet has a high street presence) and you get a 5 year warranty free gratis and for nothing.
Never used john lewis myself for a TV but i know what i think about comet
Edit:-
Didn't realise you'd already bought the TV - ignore what i said...0 -
Does the warranty cover accidental damage? is accidental damage not covered elsewhere under your home insurance poilcy? have you shopped around to see if you can get extended warranty type coverage elsewhere cheaper?
personally i never take extended warranties and haven't come a unstuck yet (and have saved so much over the years it'll take a number of expensive gadgets each blowing up in turn now before I come close to losing out....)0 -

The warranty tends to cover the equipment having a fault not for damage done by a person or toddler! You need accidental cover on your house insurance for that kind of event.
When purchasing any item do you really expect it to go faulty and need the extra rip off warranty that probably won't cover what happens to you appliance?Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Check out your insurance policy too perhaps. What is the standard manufacturer warranty provided??0

As others have suggested, Comet Insurance will most likely not cover accidental damage.
Can you not control your child/children?;)0 -

Can you not control your child/children?;):rotfl::rotfl:many can't
Turn the TV off and spend more time with them maybe and then they might just be easier to controlEverything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Just wondering that as well?
Is the manufacturer's warranty 1 or more years?
So in effect does that mean comet's 5 year warranty is only for 4 years if buying from the time of purchase, suppose it depends what's included in it?
As alleycat stated I would have checked John Lewis first as they include a 5 year warranty.0 -
Comet staff will always try to push people into buying these these warranties, they get commission on every one they sell.0
