Hi All,
I am a regular poster but have taken this AE for this post.
I am currently in receipt of income support having recently left employment and I want to become self employed (cleaning offices etc) - I am hoping to build the business to later become limited but at the moment it seems to make sense to do it this way.
My problem is that if I want to do this I will technically be employed so would have to come off IS but until I get at least one job I will have no income atall and Im not sure where that leaves me with WTC etc particularly in the early days when i will really just be trawling industrial estates trying to get a contract.
I am a single parent with one child under 10
Could anybody advise me how I overcome this please ? I dont have any savings so it really is all from scratch
Thank you very much

Your best bet is Business Link. I have been looking at going self employed as well and on one of their workshops I was told that as far as declaring myself self employed etc. the date my business would start trading would be the day that i got my first paying customer. So essentially, do all of the research, do some courses, get some funding but don't sign off until you get your first customer. Or at least, that is my interpretation of it!
Good Luck and keep me posted! Thanks0
