any help with an Epson DX7400 Printer

My DX7400 Printer Has run out of ink, so i replaced it with a compatible one and i had a message that the cartridge was uncompatible apart from the fact i have used these cartridges for ever i tried another one same message so I put a genuine Epson cartridge in on the 3rd attempt and once again same message. Any Idea's whats happened?
P.S
In the middle of the first change there was a message comunication error and I had to restart the PC if this makes any difference i do not know.

Thanks guys in advance

I know from experience that some Epson printers can be fussy, particularly when you mix cartridge brands i.e. epson originals with compatibles and even sometimes different compatibles. I have an SX600FW which i have had this happen to me a few times with both Pro jet and InkRite cartridges. I was advised to take all cartridges out then pull the power from the back of the printer. Leave it for 5 - 10 mins and the printer clears itself. Plug the power back in and it asks for ink so you then put in the ink ensuring it is all the same brand and it should be fine. Failing that you might need to change brands.

I got the following instructions from a supplier and find this has worked with different compatible brands. My printer is DX7450.
"When any cartridges become depleted and the message on your screen informs you that the cartridges are empty DO NOT Click OK to change the cartridges. If you do your printer will only accept original cartridges.
Instead press the cancel button and press the flashing button / light on the printer for a few seconds. This will make the printer slide the cartridges across to enable you to change the cartridges".
    Hope this helps.

Most companies in my experience recommend not to mix compatibles and originals together so the reset mentioned in the first post should work. Removing all the cartridges and then turning off your printer and then replacing the cartridge in order from left to right should work.
    Every Little helps :rotfl:

I have dx7450 and you can not mix brands of compatibles.. You have to remove the lot and bin them.. Also dont use cheap ink as they no way to remove the printer head to clean it.. Google Best Ink for epson and find some one who sell ink in they compatible cartridges...
