Does anyone know an easy way of finding a reliable Boiler Engineer or indeed tradesmen in general ? I have asked Family and Friends to no avail on this occasion !

If you can't get a recommendation then start with the corgi link above, then the fun starts.
Get a few local people to quote you for the work you need done and use your instincts to go with the one you feel most comfortable with.

For gas engineers corgi is the only site
for electrical work:
http://www.niceic.org.uk/common/contractor_search.html
or if you are in Scotland;
http://www.select.org.uk/index.php?page=p/companyfinder/companyfinder&pn=cf01
or
http://www.sbsa.gov.uk/register/SearchCo.asp?T=Construction&ID=2
(this is VERY important to use the above link if you are getting works carried out such as extensions; conservatories; conversions or work in flats, maisonettes and 3 storey houses)

hope this helps
To summarise if you use a registered company you have more come back and a complaints procedure- you also know the people are suitably qualified.baldly going on...0
