New laminate floor + water leak!!!!!

My chippie was putting the skirting on after laying the new laminate floor on saturday, and drilled through one of the central heating pipes - water everywhere, under underlay, between underlay and floor, ontop of floor. Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Do we just wait to see if it lifts?

If you don't get it sorted now, by the time it does lift (if it does), the chippie will be long gone, with your money and no comeback.
I think he should replace all the damaged items at his own cost. He was supposed to take care with his work and I don't think he can really claim that he did, can he?0 -

Do you mean it's still down and you're waiting to see if it dries out ok?
If so, then imo it should have been lifted straight away. What underlay was used? What is the sub floor? If it doesn't dry out properly you could have bigger problems on your hands than just warped laminate.
I wouldn't be leaving it 'to see'. Agree with Innys, get it sorted now otherwise you may struggle to get him to come back at a later date.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I don't think we will have any problems with the chippie, he's not the type. Hopefully a lot of the water went under the floor boards (ground floor) but I said to him, as it was near the door, would it be an idea to slide some sections out for damage limitation purposes, but he didn't think that would be a good idea.0

I run a Maintenance Company and do a lot of insurance. As sure as god made little apples, it'll start to lift. It needs all to be lifted and the underlay taken up. The floor needs to be left to dry out and new floor laid. Laminate flooring and water leaks are not good bed fellows.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
