Well, I was absolutely amazed yesterday.
We bought a Philips digital recorder last Christmas from Comet. Took the first one back because it whirred so loudly; the second one was (very slightly) quieter but had a mind of its own and wouldn't let us record certain things (I presumed it disapproved of Escape to the Country), showed a lot of programmes in individual pixels and froze regularly.
After it took an extra hour to watch the new David Tennant programme last week I said I'd had enough and it was going back.
And yesterday we took it back and the very nice young girl asked if we would like a replacement (ho - not likely) or our money back (yes please) and that was that.
Excellent result - thank you to Comet and I'll try to remember not to buy Philips stuff again.

We bought a Phillips DVD recorder when they first came out and it began behaving very badly after around 15 months. I emailed Phillips who sent me a return post label, they fixed it, sent it back and we had it for another five years with no problems."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
