I want to buy a new tv setup and was hoping someone would be able to help/offer advice
Looking for a TV 42" to 50", full HD with 4 HDMI sockets - would prefer LCD but am open to Plasma
A bluray player that I can stream videos from my pc to in a similar way to the PS3. (Believe this is called DLNA?)
A 5.1 surround sound system.
Looking spend no more than £1000.00
Anyone who could suggest products/offer advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'm not too hot on the other bits and bobs, but can I suggest that you look at LED TVs rather than LCD/Plasma. Certainly LED is an improvement visually over LCD (better blacks and contrast) and a decent 40" Samsung 5 series can be had for around the £600 mark - this one for example http://www.properprice.co.uk/samsung-ue40c5100qwxxu-ue40c5100-22864.html?kw=GA45525&gclid=CMzEkdiw3KQCFeNc4wodXyDKJg- appreciate its 40" not 42" but its not as big a step down as you'd think - I've just swapped my 42" sharp for this TV (Paid £550) and its superb, much better picture than my old LCD, runs cheaper, runs cooler and not that it matters if you're not wall mounting but its only 3cm thick. Of course then the debate becomes edge mounted or full backlit LED, but I'm happy with this edge lit version and I'm pretty fussy when it comes to picture quality.
That would leave a couple of hundred for your Blu Ray player (incidentally, nothing wrong with a PS3 as a Bluray player, its really rather good, and you get a games machine too!) and surround sound which might be suitable? Others who know about surround sound will I'm sure be of more use than me.0 -
Thanks bosseyed for your advice. I will consider the samsung LED as it is a good looking tv,0

Panasonic is the standard reply. A lot of tuner inputs for sat, freeview, freesat, cat 5.0

Yep, Panasonic G20 series, available on 42 or 50 inch. I THINK it supports DLNA, certainly can do iPlayer, youtube etc, FreesatHD, FreeviewHD, not sure of number of HDMI ports, but importantly, has an excellent picture.
And I must insert my standard bugbear - repeat after me 'LED TVs *ARE* LCD TVs'. You should really call them LED Backlit. Don't confuse with OLED which won't be in your living room for a few years yet.0
