Anyone know if there are any problems moving MS Office from an old pc to a new ?

My lads getting a new laptop in a couple of week and has the student version of Office 07 on his old one.

I know you can install this on up to three machines, but if it's uninstalled on the old pc does it communicate this to MS and reset the counter?
And will there be any problems installing it on the new one ?

This is the downloaded student version (paid for), we have the 500 meg file and the key.

The only files to move are Word doc's and Excel sheets, so we've no problems there.

should be no issues, are you intending to remove it permanently off the old machine?

Yes, the old laptop is going to his sister.
It'll have the op system reinstalled and that has a free copy of Works on it (it's a Dell studio 17). Which is all she's going to need.

Should not be a problem as far as I can tell. No licensing issue.

It should work but when we tried to do it on my husbands new computer it said all the licences had expired!

I had to do this and ended up having to call Microsoft because it told me to. It was a free 0800 number on Christmas day. Answered in 2 minutes, resolved quickly with them, I had to enter another code. So even if you exceed it you should be OK, as long as no more than three machines are seen actively using it.
