Kings Cross to Crawley

Hiya Guys

I am leaving my current job to start a new venture working for Virgin Holidays in November so excited

Im up in Newcastle and we have to train at Virgins headquarters in Crawley for 3 weeks

Now Flybe fly to Gatwick from Newcastle and I know its only ten minutes from the airport to the base (best option)

If they make us get the train I have looked and its about a 5 hour journey down, do any of you know what its like getting over from Kings Cross to Crawley im not good with London and a bit worried lol

Thanks
Del

You could walk to St Pancras from Kings Cross - must be all of 2 minutes walk and take a train from there to East Croydon then change for the train to Crawley, or take the train all the way to Gatwick then back a stop or so.

  • Lucky you they are only making you train in Creepy Crawley as opposed to move down their permanently!

Well done on the new job.

An option I'd prefer is to get out at Kings Cross and make your way (by a long, well marked tunnel) to St Pancras Thameslink and catch a Thameslink (now called First Capital Connect) train (regular) to East Croydon, and change there to a Crawley train (of which there are many).

There's also the direct Thameslink train (operated by FCC) from Kings X/ St Pancras to Three Bridges. It also calls at Gatwick Airport.

It depends on where in Crawley you need to be, and how you would be getting from the station, but it's probably more convenient than schlepping across London. Three Bridges is only a mile away from the main station in Crawley.

Well I have completely gone off the idea of getting the train, Flybe it is then

Although a plane with propellers isnt my idea of fun although I must get over this fear of flying working for Virgin now, 7 free flights on VA per year!!!!!!!!!!! woo hoo cant wait was thinking Barbados for my first trip

Lucky you. My crappy airline doesn't give me any decent freebies like that. My mate works for VS and he's always off somewhere. J class of course! lol

At least i get sent to the far east to do training. Bit more interesting than Crawley. You could always see if you get a staff discount on their fear of flying course.
