Hi
When my router is switched on it causes an annoying background hiss/static noise on my DECT phone, turning the router off and the noise goes away. I do not have the wireless facility active I just use it hard wired via an ethernet cable. The phone base unit is placed well away from my PC and router which is situated upstairs in my house. Because of this problem I switch off my router when not in use this has caused connectivity speed problems with my Broadband this I did not know about until it was explained to me by my BB ISP I now leave it on 24/7 but still have this phone noise problem, does anyone else experience this?, My house phone is a Panasonic cordless dect type. and the router is a Netgear DG 834G
regards

have u tried changing the channel of your wireless router??0

Have you filters on all sockets? Your router is a common one and unlikely to be cause unless faulty.0

I too have Panasonic DECT phones and noticed the same thing when I first had ADSL broadband installed.
Over time it the sound disappeared, I`m not sure if it faded away or I got used to it!

I have got all the filters in place,
busenbust why would I want to change router channel the wireless option is off"Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0 -
Move your Dect phone (base station) as far away from your router as possible, they both interfere with each other, even with your router wireless off.0

Try another router maybe the power unit is causing the problem, I have a Panasonic DECT phone base station and Netgear router fifteen inches apart and have no noise problems, out of interest I have just tried a second Netgear router and that is also problem free.0

This sounds like a line fault known as an HR DIS. It is caused by a bad joint somewhere on your phone line.
When an ADS router is connected it is in continual communication with equipment in the exchange even if you are not using it. That communication is on much higher frequencies than voice and filters block them from the voice connectors. At the bad joint the signal can be partially rectified just like an old fashioned crystal set and this leads to a varying signal in the audio range which you can hear.
If you report this to your ISP they should eventually after taking you through all the basic filter changing malarkey have a BT ADSL engineer visit booked and the problem fixed. The big problem will be persuading them to make that callout as BT are very fond of charging for it under the pretext of no fault found (it may not be a pretext of course - it could just e an incompetent engineer)
I had one. It wasn't fixed after 5 voice engineer visits and O2 messed me around so long I just cancelled and went to cable instead.0
